Veg: Kashmiri Aloor Dum

 Ingredients and Quantity (or Amount)

1.    Potatoes (500 grams)

2.    Plain yogurt (100 grams)

3.    Posto or Poppy seeds (2 tablespoons)

4.    Cashew nuts (5-6 pieces)

5.    Onion (1 medium sized)

6.    Ginger paste (2 tablespoons)

7.    Garam masala (1 tablespoon)

8.    Green chili (4 pieces)

9.    Salt (1/2 teaspoon)

10. Sugar (1 teaspoon)

11. Oil (1/2 cup)

Method:

Boil the potato to make it soft and peel off the skin. Set aside.

Heat a pan and add oil and fry the potatoes until light brown.

In another pan add oil and fry chopped onion, ginger paste, posto poppy seeds, cashew nuts (converted into a paste), salt, sugar, cut up green chili and yogurt. When the onions turn brownish, add the potatoes that was set aside earlier. Add one cup of water and boil the entire mix. Boil for about 2-3 minutes and then add garam masala.

Serve with lachcha paratha.
