Veg: Jalpai Chutney

 Ingredients and Quantity (or Amount)

1.    Jalpai (Olives) (250 grams)

2.    Sugar (300 grams)

3.    Salt (1 tablespoon)

4.    Turmeric (1/2 tablespoon)

5.    Whole mustard seeds (1/2 tablespoon)

6.    Dry chili pepper (2 pieces)

7.    Oil (1 tablespoon)

Method:

Wash the olives. Put pan on heat and add 2 cups of water. Add in the olives. When olives are tender after boiling, add sugar, salt, turmeric. Cook for 10 minutes.

When the liquid is thickened, set aside. Heat up another pan and add oil, dry chili pepper and whole mustard seeds. Fry for 7 minutes then add olives that were set aside earlier in this pan and cook for another 2 minutes.

Serve once the mixture has cooled off.
