Veg: Peas Rice
Why Peas Rice ?
In Kolkata during the winters, we get very fresh and sweet peas in the market. I used to cook many different dishes with these peas. One day, I said to myself, why not add some to the rice we eat everyday. And thus, I cooked up a rice dish filled with green sweet peas. My family just loved it.
Ingredients and Amount or Quantity
1. Basmati Rice (2 cups)
2. Green Peas (500 grams)
3. Bay leaves (2 pieces)
4. Whole Cumin (1 teaspoon)
5. Green Chilli Pepper (2 pieces)
6. Cinnamon (1 stick)
7. Cloves (4 pieces)
8. Cardamom (4 pieces)
9. Cooking oil (4 table spoon)
10. Salt (to taste)
11. Sugar (1 table spoon)
Method
Cook the rice and mix the peas with the rice.
Heat the pan on the stove and add oil. When oil is hot, add whole cumin, bay leaves, green chilli peppers, cinnamon stick, cloves and cardamom.
Pour the rice into the pan and stir constantly. Add salt and sugar and stir thoroughly.
Serve hot.
