Veg: Sambar

Ingredients and Quantity (or Amount)

1.    Cholar daal or Arhar daal (250 grams)

2.    Okra (100 grams)

3.    Beans (100 grams)

4.    Squash (200 grams)

5.    Salt (1 tablespoon)

6.    Turmeric powder (1 tablespoon)

7.    Tamarind (100 grams)

8.    Mustard (1 tablespoon)

9.    Sambar Masala (2 tablespoon)

10. Curry leaves (5 or 6 pieces)

11. Shredded coconut (1/2 cup)

12. Oil (4 tablespoons)

13. Dry Chili (2 pieces)

Method:

Make tamarind water with 100 grams tamarind and 1 cup hot water,

Cut all the vegetable and wash them. Boil the daal with sufficient water. When the daal is done, add all the vegetable.

Heat the deep pan. Pour oil, dry chili, mustard seed, curry leaves, shredded coconut, tamarind water, salt, turmeric and sambar powder. Add the pre-prepared and mix thoroughly.

Serve with Dosa.

 How to Make Your Own Sambar Powder:

Ingredients and Quantity (or Amount)

1. Whole Coriander (50 grams)

2. Whole cumin (50 grams)

3. Dry Chili (10 grams)

4. Methi (10 grams)

5. Mustard Seeds (20 grams)

6. Arhar Daal (25 grams)

7. Cholar daal (25 grams)

Method: 

Dry fry all items together on low heat for a few minutes. Cool and grind to a powder. Store it in dry jar with a tight lid.
