My Inspiration - My Family

My mother, Prafulla Devi, was a great cook. However, she never followed any recipe book which were also very rare in the days of her youth. Whatever she served, was simply mouth watering. She was very creative. I think she might have been born with unmatched culinary skills. Since my father was a string critic, my mother tried to improve her cooking all the time to be able to present the best dishes whenever she cooked. She could cook for a hundred people - both vegetarian and non-vegetarian items. She once told me - "Cooking is an art". My mother's best dishes were Ilish Macher Polao, Chingri Malai, Sukto, Mango Chutney, to name a few.

Rianna Mukherjee (19 years) is my eldest grand daughter. She loves to eat fried rice, paneer, etc. I enjoy cooking her favorite items for her when I am with her. I believe when she finds time she will cook delicious meals with her favorite person because that will be indeed fun for her.

Nishant Mukherjee (18 years) is my eldest grand son and he really loves food. His palette is so sophisticated that he can identify the spices I use in a particular meal served to him. He thinks cooking is fun.

Maya Mukherjee (18 years) is my youngest grand daughter who loves baking and has an overall passion for cooking just like her mother.  She constantly learns new things every time she tries to cook a new dish.

Ryone Mukherjee (14 years) is my youngest and cutest grandson. He does not have a liking for authentic bengali food yet. However, he likes other types of cuisine and often watches the Food Channels where they talk about how to cook various dishes. I have faith that he will be a great chef one day. His father is a great cook.
